Popular committees of the First Intifada
During the First Intifada, Palestinian neighborhood, women's, professional, labor, education, agricultural, and supply networks connected resistance schedules to the practical work of sustaining life under occupation. Their distributed capacity widened participation and reduced dependence on Israeli-administered systems, but it did not eliminate factional control, gender hierarchy, coercive enforcement, violent abuse, or vulnerability to repression and political succession.
How can an occupied population sustain collective resistance and ordinary life when strikes, curfews, school closures, arrests, injury, and economic dependence make each household vulnerable in isolation?
